The Start of a Process

The 1st Floyd County Fire District subcommittee meeting was held on 1/20/21. We had great participation and the conversation was a strong setup to the foundation of the subcommittee direction. These meetings will take place every-other-week (meeting details below) and are open to the public. The subcommittee was formed by the Floyd County Commissioners to throughly vet and discuss what a county wide Fire District would look; including an option to roll EMS Service into the districts.

The process and structure of a fire district isn’t defined by the Subcommittee or the County Commissioner, it is defined by a Fire Board that is established when the County Commissioners vote to form a Fire District. The outcome from this subcommittee is to recommend or not recommend a fire district (with/without EMS) based on data analysis, service changes, and public input.
